Tonight

Last night the moon was hiding; the shadows were not falling

The wind was not blowing, the leaves were not moving

There were no sounds, there were no movements.

Last night had no music

No sweet banter hypnotized the night, no laughter filled the space

Sleep was a distant dream and dreams were a long lost dream

Silence wished to linger a little longer, like a long lost friend unwilling to bid goodbye so soon.

Last night was last night, gone like all other nights,

But tonight is a different night,

For tonight is not dark like last night, but darker than last night.
